BACKING UP YOUR CRITICAL DATA
The longer I am in this business the more I learn… and the most common problem I run across is that people do not take the time or concern to back up their most critical data… Pictures, Music, Documents, things on their Desktop, Favorites in Internet Explorer, Outlook, Outlook Express, and personal folders that have been created elsewhere on the Hard Drive.
What I
have been recommending to my clients over the last couple of years or so is to
invest a small amount of $$ for an external hard drive and have someone of
knowledge setup an automatic/manual backup of your “critical data” to the
external device, unless you know how to do so yourself, so that in the event
that your hard drive crashes or your Windows becomes un-bootable, or you move to
a newer pc, your data can be easily transferred to the new hard drive or new
system. Or, if you know how to simply Copy and Paste from one location in
Windows to another, just go ahead and do that. It is simply “peace of mind” for
any computer user. A computer can always be rebuilt.. but lost data can never be
restored.
